Across the world, corals are dying because of rising ocean temperatures but scientists working for SECORE International have now found a way to speed up the recovery of degraded reefs.
They collect coral eggs and sperm released during mass spawning events and fertilise the eggs in the lab. The resulting larvae are then cultured and settled onto substrate blocks that can be sown out in degraded reefs later.
