This is a video of my recent test to determine the practicality of lifting my Rav4EV to service the battery pack. It was necessary to stack five practice hockey pucks (from Dicks Sporting Goods) at each corner and to cut a 3/4" slit in the top of each stack. This prevented the weld flange from getting crushed, while transferring the lift load to the body structure more uniformly.

This video is in real time, not sped up or slowed, which allows one to see that it was fewer than three minutes to bring the vehicle up to nearly the maximum height of 26" provided by the lift.

The drill used is a 7.5 amp hammer drill in drill-only mode. It gets a bit warm, but holds up quite well during the process. Once elevated, the load will be transferred to jack stands and the lift will be reconfigured, rotated and used to safely drop the approximately thousand pound battery pack.

This lift was custom made to fit the Rav4EV, as it is necessary to avoid contact with the battery pack during the lift process. The reconfiguring of the lift involves changing out the spreader bars to the workbench option and adding the optional moving casters. The casters will permit the pack to be rolled out of the underside of the vehicle. The lift will be again elevated for a convenient working height.
