In this talk Helen explained her process of creating commemorative art, focussing in particular on two local commissions: the York Normandy Veterans window at St Lawrence's church, and the Afghanistan Memorial window at All Saints Pavement, York.

Helen Whittaker is Creative Director of Barley Studio, York, and is an award-winning designer of stained glass windows and architectural sculpture in glass and copper, with over 100 commissions in prestigious buildings across the UK. These skills remind us that alongside the magnificent quality of medieval stained glass in York there are still new commissions of equally outstanding work. YAYAS were delighted when it was announced in June 2024 that Helen was to be made an MBE.
