"We received more than 500 victims of torture in the past months and only for the month of September, there's an account of more than 200 (cases of) sexual violence. Immediately after the takeover from the city of el-Fasher by the RSF during the weekend of the 26th, 27th of October, we received few peoples who came to Tawila, so few thousands. And today there are less than 10, 000 new people (who) arrived in Tawila."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Michel Lacharite, head of Emergency Operations at Doctors Without Borders (MSF):
"The report that we have is that today in Qarni in el-Fasher, there are several people detained who are not capable to freely reach a safe area, so being Tawila, being another location. So, this is very important. Everyone in Darfur must be capable, to travel safely wherever they want. This is not the case. Several people are asked (for) money to travel or to be capable to go in another location. Digital money is very developed in Sudan so everyone has this app, Bankak, so everyone can do cash transfer on the spot with a sat phone hub. So, this mechanism (is used) to stop people and to ask for ransom."

"We have direct account from the patient (patients) who succeed to escape, that they walk and witness several dead bodies along the road. Accounts of indiscriminate killings of civilians and accounts of ethnic targeted assassination after the people say, yes, I am from this tribe and these people were killed. However, the extent and the capacity to qualify how many thousands of people remains today difficult to answer."

"We know that some people are detained. We know that they are asked for money. Several accounts go in this direction. Today, to know exactly how many people are detained and how many hundreds or thousands, it's very difficult to appraise."
