Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a day long strike on Wednesday in protest against the National Medical Commission or the NMC Bill. The Medical Association stated that the bill has provisions that would adversely affect the health sector along with the medical education in the country.The proposed bill is set to replace the apex medical education regulator -- Medical Council of India (MCI) with a new body, to ensure transparency, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 29 2017.
