The TCM in the Ford Focus (or also Fiesta and EcoSport) is the transmission control unit found in the PowerShift dual-clutch transmission. This is probably the most reported and the least reliable transmission made by the American car manufacturer throughout the history.

The TCM or TCU tends to go bad at about 100,000 miles or even earlier making it close to impossible to properly repair the transmission. At this point, the clutch pack is also at its last stage of life and altogether they will most likely cost you over $3000 to replace and reprogram.

This is insane given the 10-year-old Focus will probably cost less on the market. And this is one of the major problems with these transmissions.
