Genesis Fermin (they/them) is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist, and gardener who cultivates lush fruits and soul-illuminating songs. Their music documents the ache of longing, vivid childhood memories, and a life lived against the grain, blurring every boundary. Genesis grows music and food in the Bay Area, and is the co-founder of the I Need Space Queer Music Festival, founded to support a diverse, international array of queer artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their debut album, Genesis Fermin, was released in 2021 and produced by Gina Villalobos, and the “gentle acoustic rhythms” on this album are described by Americana UK as “smartly written, [with] a strong vocal.”

In collaboration with Doctora Xingona, Genesis Fermin was invited to be a resident artist at the University of Skövde, Sweden in 2023. Together, they co-founded their business, Full Belly Productions, which received a Zoo Labs Grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation in 2023. Most recently, the multifaceted Fermin has expanded their expertise to electrical training, and received a scholarship to join a cohort in the Accelerated Electrical Training Program at Eden ROP.

Genesis Fermin is a sought-out multi-instrumentalist for multiple Bay Area music projects. Most notably, they worked as a guitarist for the trans superhero rock opera The Red Shades in 2022. Fermin plays drums for artists Briget Boyle and Mya Byrne, and they have been regular studio musician for ModernTone Studios since 2022. They are currently at work on an album project produced by Vicki Randle in collaboration with Little Village Foundation.
