How to do sieve analysis calculations and plot particle size distribution curve (part 1)

In this video, I will show you how to do sieve test calculation (part 1) and how to plot a grading curve. Thereafter, i will show you how to find the hydraulic conductivity from the graph or curve.

1a. The result of sieve analysis test on a soil is shown below
Sieve size 2.8 mm 20 mm 1.40 mm 1.00 mm 710 µm 500 µm 300 µm pan
Weight retained (g) 0 35.0 76.0 98.0 80.0 50.0 34.0 12.0

1b. Plot the grading curve and report result quantitatively
1c. Given the average grain size coefficient as 100 and the weight of the sample as 350g, determine the hydraulic conductivity
