Crimes against women in India remain a deeply rooted social issue. Despite constitutional guarantees and protective laws, many women continue to face violence, discrimination, and abuse in public and private spaces. Fear, stigma, family pressure, and weak trust in the justice system lead to widespread underreporting, while delays in investigation and trials deny timely justice.

Several forms of abuse remain least discussed, including marital rape, economic and emotional abuse, reproductive coercion, cyber harassment, and exploitation in informal workplaces. Patriarchal attitudes and the normalization of violence allow these crimes to persist.

Ensuring women’s safety, dignity, and justice requires collective action from the state, institutions, and society, and must be recognized as a fundamental human right, not a special demand.
