He didn't look fluffy when he arrived but his right side looked very odd once he got under the bale. His right, your left. I thought he'd been in a fight but it wasn't like that when he arrived... It's six days since I saw a strange bird on the birdbath that looked like it had been in a fight (only three since I posted it. It wasn't him, was it?

The battery that started at 18% died at 11:27 so just enough. He got the new bale I turned over for her the day before. Until chicks arrive, that's probably how it's going to be. If she's only getting limited food due to sitting on eggs, she gets the best bale. But even bales that were turned over the previous day are productive – where did that curl grub come from?

I have fully charged spares with the camera bag so no biggie – I switched it out immediately in case she arrived. And, of course, she did turn up so she got a new bale. The insects seem to have recovered from that rain as the bales underside of the bales have dried out a bit.

A good afternoon for the magpies.
