Panorama Point is one of the highest points in Matheran and is mostly visited in the early hours to see the spectacular sunrise. It can be reached by walk or pony, but trekking to this place is a wonderful experience. It takes 2 hours to reach the Panorama Point from Matheran market.

At a distance of 5 km from Matheran Railway Station, Panorama point, also known as Sunrise Point, is one of the well known and highly admired vantage points near Matheran. It is a popular place to watch the sunrise.

The point offers picturesque views of the Western Ghats and lush plains dotted with villages far below. It is one of the popular places of sightseeing in Matheran. It offers beautiful views of Prabalgad fort and distant views of Heart Point, Porcupine Point and Monkey Point.

The views from Panorama Point are incredibly stunning and beyond my words. This point offers a 360-degree view of Matheran and surrounding areas. You can also spot Sunset Point from here. Being remotely located, this point is even more secluded than Honeymoon Point. You can lie down in the lap of nature and thank god for introducing you to this heaven on earth. This place is also a good picnic spot and a photographer's paradise. One can click multiple panoramic pictures here without any intervention. Spend some time admiring some mesmerising views, while inhaling fresh air that is a rarity in cities. Panorama Point also serves as a good sunrise and sunset point. People often trek to this place from their hotel at dawn to see the sunrise.


How to Reach Matheran Hill Station:

By Train: Large number of people visiting Matheran prefer to come by train as it is the most convenient mode of transportation, from Mumbai one can board train from a Central Line going to Karjat or Khopoli, after getting down at Neral Station, there are share cabs which can take you to Dasturi Parking Lot, after getting the entry tickets, one has to either walk or take a horse to wherever they would like to go since vehicles are not allowed inside, we prefer walking, it’s a therapy in itself and a great stress buster.

By Road: Matheran is about 90 Kms from Mumbai and 120 Kms from Pune, If you are planning to stay in Matheran for 4 to 5 days or more, a private car is the best option.

By Toy Train: Toy trains are available from Neral Station, however, in the monsoon season, it is closed as a precautionary measure from landslides. It takes Toy train two and half hours to reach Matheran from Neral, it’s a bit of a long trip, but it’s definitely a joy ride.
