Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her maiden Union Budget 2019-20 in Parliament announcing a slew of sops for the farmers and poor among others. In her speech, the finance minister proposed to merge the NRI investment scheme route with foreign portfolio investment (FPI) route. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government assures every single rural family, except those unwilling to take the connection, will have electricity and clean cooking facility by 2022.
