NOTE: Demonstrated here is both the correct 450 Hz peak tones, along with the 15 Hz drop glitch 2020 controllers have after a SI-Test is preformed with a 435 Hz peak.

Only 5 amps are being powered as I only have 2 batteries, I took out 4 of the amps since I won’t need them once I get a complete 2806 coming from Washington.

My most recent acquisition, I picked up this Whelen ESC-2020, manufactured January 3rd, 2005, last week out of SONGS siren location SC-12’s Type III cabinet after sitting for 4 years disconnected and pretty much abandoned. It was disconnected July 2019, followed by removal of the head between December 2019 through February 2020.

It’s cabinet and pole were left intact as annually, during the holidays the city hangs Christmas lights on the pole, and they wanted it to remain in place for that purpose. The cabinet was left for the sole purpose of sourcing the electricity from the receptacle inside to power a photocell which the lights hook up to, although none of the components of the ESC-2020 were of any use anymore.

After my promised 2806 I was supposed to get from the system back during that time that I ultimately got the rug pulled out from under me by the higher ups of SCE, since this cabinet and pole are now fully owned by San Clemente, I was able to acquire the components out of it, although not the actual cabinet itself since they had to leave it because the power supply.

Although it’s ridiculous how pristine of condition all the insides are, you couldn’t even tell these are 18 years old, and very little usage over the course of 2006 to 2018 at that matter, as they look like they were just shipped from Whelen directly, that just goes to show you how wasteful SCE is, just like with of course closing SONGS.

The drivers in the heads were more then likely just as mint of shape, but they smashed up all 39 removed, along with 35 cabinets, not counting the ones remaining and the 10 sites on Pendleton.

Soon, I will be getting a Whelen 2808 dissembled into a 2806 from Tolt Dam’s old system in Washington, and I’ll be able to swap controllers back and forth if I want to run the Analog ESC-864 or this ESC-2020. The irony that 30 year old Whelen 2800s are up, but 18 year old lightly used ones were all chucked.
