With large numbers of thornback rays ever present in the Bristol Channel, it's becoming increasingly difficult to locate a double figure specimen.
This time of year offers a realistic chance if you edge your bets on those areas associated with quality fish, rather than quantity.

Join me on a low water session when, once the early mist had burnt off, it was a glorious warm and sunny spring day. There were at least eight other anglers fishing at this popular location, but fish appeared to be thin on the ground.
