Sri Mariamman Temple | Silver Chariot 2017 Day 1 | Chariot Arrival

Fantastic crowd and great atmosphere: In the lead up to Firewalking Festival 2017, a silver chariot carrying Sri Mariamman went on a procession around Singapore from Sri Mariamman temple. This video shows the utsava murti, decorated as Sri Mariamman, arriving back into the temple. Sri Mariamman was received back into the temple with the song maasaru ponne varuga and then gently rocked to the song Om Sakthi on the thavil and nadaswaram before returning to the vasantha mandabam.

During the procession, the chariot visited the following locations:
Everton Park (Mutli Purpose Hall)
Former Arulmigu Vel Murugan Temple (BLK 141 & 142) Jalan Bukit Merah
Bukit Purmei (BLK 109)
Telok Blangah Rise (BLK 29)
At these places, devotees welcomed Sri Mariamman on her silver chariot with loud music and great spirits. They then seek her blessings by offering varisai thattu.
