This is a video recording of my Alienware booting from an overnight of non-usage. Take note of the errors and variables that changed just by doing a restart. :(

I encountered an issue with my Nvidia Gtx 1060 when I added a Samsung NVME 960 Pro 512 Gb.

I noticed that when I first boot my laptop from a night of non-usage, the Nvidia's hardware id is "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1C20&SUBSYS_07701028&REV_A1" and I get the error Code 43 "Windows has stopped this device or driver beacause it has a problem." But when I reboot my laptop and go into Bios and just basically look at its contents and not change anything, after I exit and log into windwos, my hardware id for the Nvidia 1060 changes to "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1C60&SUBSYS_07701028&REV_A1." and I get the error "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter." My graphics card is then displayed as MICROSOFT BASIC DISPLAY ADAPTER.

In short, my hardware Id for Gtx 1060 changed from "1C20 to 1C60." When I first boot into windows I get error 43 but after restarting, going into Bios setup, exiting and logging into windows, I get error 31.

From what I have researched, Both 1C20 and 1C60 refer to Gtx 1060. But one of them supports Gsync and the other does not. I don't know how Windows gets the hardware Id's but I suspect this is the reason why windows installs the "Microsoft Basic display adapter in place of the Nvidia driver.

I have tried the following but none of them solved my problem.

1. Clean install from the OS image provided by Dell.
2. Removed the Samsung and used the original Toshiba Nvme and clean installed both the Dell OS image and a clean windows 10 pro image.
3. I updated my BIOS to 1.1.9 and installed everything from scratch. Both using the Dell provided drivers and after it failed, using the windows update provided drivers.
4. Flashed my Bios from oldest to latest one after the other.
5. Used DDU.
6. Used Revo Uninstaller
7. Installed under AHCI mode from RAID (though I really didn't made use of RAID. It's just the default mode)

I need help badly because I'm basically stuck with the internal GFX which means no Powerful NVIDIA Card and I cannot project via HDMI port. I use it for gaming, video editing, school and basically everything.

My Windows is updated to the latest version Version 1703 Build 15063.632 and I installed the latest drivers and Bios (1.1.9) from Dell.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
