Classical arias meet the raw energy of noise rock and Afro-Brazilian rituals in this newly created concert performance by award-winning composer and performance artist Marcela Lucatelli.

Brazilian-born Marcela Lucatelli’s sensual, political, and fiercely original voice-focused works have established her as an internationally acclaimed composer and performance artist. In 2023, she and musicians Lars Bech Pilgaard and Anders Vestergaard received the Danish Music Awards Jazz prize for Vocal Release of the Year as the vocal trio Necromancy.

Expect a powerful and unusual concert, as Necromancy takes over the Festival Stage with a string ensemble and a specially formed choir. The performance mixes famous opera arias by composers like Bizet, Verdi, and Purcell with noise rock and experimental music – a wild and heartfelt tribute to the voice’s full potential.

With extreme vocal techniques, trance-inducing polyrhythms, and gothic sonic landscapes, Necromancy creates a genre-defying performance in which death, transformation, and the beyond take form through sound and presence – like a message from the underworld in the heart of Den Røde Plads.
