A Piece for Flute and Strings

If you’ve dropped a word,
Look carefully at it and
Don’t lose sight of it.
Bullets whistle over the trench.
The soldiers are quiet.
They have no cartridges left.
What is there in common between a bullet and a word?
Algirdas took a puff of shag,
My answer is:
Both can wound, even kill.
