On Monday evening, August 18, residents across Houston, Texas, were caught off guard as a powerful hailstorm swept through the region, transforming a humid summer night into a chaotic weather event. The storm, which developed rapidly over northwest Harris County, brought with it intense thunder, lightning, and hailstones measuring up to 2 inches in diameter. The hailstorm was triggered by a convergence of moist Gulf air and a fast-moving cold front descending from the north. Meteorologists had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning earlier in the day, citing the potential for hail up to the size of quarters and damaging wind gusts. By 8:30 PM, radar imagery showed a dense cluster of storm cells intensifying over the western suburbs of Houston, particularly in areas like Champions Green, Greenwood Forest, and Westside.
