It’s been a while since my last video, so I thought it was time to record some more Beethoven so here is my rendition of the Eroica Variations - as the name suggests they are based on the theme of the Eroica Symphony’s last movement, starting with just the bass, then gradually adding more parts before the theme, 15 variations, fugue and coda - there’s so much variety and inventiveness in this set of variations, but I particularly like the 15th variation which for me has to be one of Beethoven’s most sublime moments of solo piano music. I hope this rendition does it some kind of justice.
