Overnighting in Horseshoe Bay

A few people have been asking for details about overnighting in Moreton Bay so I have been intending to make a video about it for a while, and it is finally starting to happen.

I started to make a general video of all the places you could overnight around the bay and the considerations for each but I quickly realised that was going to be an epic movie so I changed the plan and decided to make a series of short videos, each covering one spot and when then maybe finish up with a video of general considerations encompassing the spots that I didn’t cover individually. We’ll see how it evolves as it progresses.

I started off with Horseshoe Bay on Peel Island which is one of the most beautiful spots in the southern part of Moreton Bay, but it can also be one of the most dangerous if the wind turns unexpectedly. Don’t let it scare you off though, plan your trip well, keep an eye on the weather while you are there, and you will find it most enjoyable.

I had planned this video around our overnighter, but the weather did turn around from the south, so we abandoned the overnighter and went home. The change in weather wasn’t dangerous by any means but it would have made sleeping on the boat uncomfortable for my wife so best to keep your partner happy and wanting to participate in the next adventure.
