AP Minister Reassures: Polavaram-Banaka Cherla Project Won't Affect Telangana's Water Share | MUNSIF TV


Andhra Pradesh's Minister for Irrigation, N. Ramanaidu, clarified today that the Polavaram-Banaka Cherla project will not harm the interests of upstream states. He emphasized that approximately 3,000 TMC of water from the Godavari River goes to waste into the sea annually. According to Minister Ramanaidu, Andhra Pradesh will only utilize this floodwater at the Polavaram site and will not impact the allocated water share of other states.

This project has emerged as a significant political and water resources dispute between the two states. Minister Ramanaidu provided a PowerPoint presentation on the matter today, asserting that the Andhra Pradesh government's approval of the Polavaram-Banaka Cherla project is in accordance with rules and regulations. He stated that the project would not cause any harm to Telangana, dismissing accusations that Andhra Pradesh is "snatching" Godavari water as mere political rhetoric.
