First Video-Breath work
Slow deep breathing allows us to bring the nervous system from Flight or Fight (Sympathetic) to Rest and Repair (Parasympathetic). When you are living with a chronic illness, your nervous system often remains in the Sympathetic system (Go Mode). This brings more stress into your mind and body and creates more tension and stiffness in the muscles and joints. By practicing deep breathing for just 5 minutes per day, you can introduce a new pattern of relaxation. As an added bonus, use a pillow under your spine and hips to open up and release tension in the body.

Second Video-Gentle Supine Movements
Daily movement is essential for managing Fibromyalgia. It’s important to choose movements that keep you moving with ease. These gentle movements combined with slow deep breathing in and out through the nose will allow you to release discomfort in the spine and hips. In addition to letting go of physical and emotional stress, you will notice your strength increasing as well. On days that you need more rest, practice a passive supported posture with deep breathing. And on days where you feel more energized, try these subtle stretches to release your tight areas while remaining on your spine for more support and ease.
