Celeste Barber talks eating FLIES on the set of Runt

Is Runt the new top dog when it comes to pooch-centric movies? This mighty addition to the list of classic Aussie family films stars viral comedy queen Celeste Barber (The Letdown). In this week’s episode of ReelTalk, Celeste tells Ben that Runt is the uplifting movie the world needs right, despite swallowing a few flies during filming in Western Australia’s country town of York. Based on the best-selling kids book of the same name by Craig Silvey, the film tells the story of an 11-year-old girl named Annie (played by Lily LaTorre) who enters her little dog Runt in a dog show to try and save the family farm. Taking inspiration from Babe and Kath and Kim, Celeste also gives a shoutout to Tracy and Stacy from the York Hotel for offering excellent hospitality. Also interviewed is director John Sheedy (H is for Happiness) who talks about the joy of working with kids and animals, while also reminiscing about filming hilarious dance scenes with actor Matt Day (Murial's Wedding) who plays the villain, Fergus Fink. The film also stars Jack Thompson (The Man from Snowy River) Deborah Mailman (Mystery Road) and a heavily bearded Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad). Runt is now showing.
