Brava Barrel Tile Video 1 - Field Tile Layout and Installation

Описание к видео Brava Barrel Tile Video 1 - Field Tile Layout and Installation

Part 1 - Field tile layout and installation:
• Spanish tiles must be installed to a minimum of 15/32 inch CDX plywood deck or equal.
• For complete substrate preparation, product handling, and other preconstruction considerations, please consult printed documentation.
• All flashings and appropriate ice and water shield must be installed before installation.
• Spanish tiles can be applied in a variety of patterns, the most common is a single straight-line course of tiles
• Beginning at the rightmost eave place, a starter tile flush with the eave edge and fasten with two roofing nails.
• Nails must penetrate the roof deck by one-half inch.
• Rest the first tile on the starter and fasten using a corrosion-resistant fastener.
• To position the second starter, dry fit a tile line and position the starter so the second tile fits in the rain channel properly.
• Mark that starter location and fasten the second starter.
• Repeat this process by installing all starter tiles along the eve, dry fitting each subsequent tile, marking starter locations, and fastening as you go.
• Install the first course of tiles. The two ribs underneath the tile should engage with the vertical closure section of the starter.
• To obtain a properly aligned installation, horizontal and vertical chalk lines must be snapped on the field.
• First, snap a chalk line at the top of the roof, one and a half inches down from the ridge center.
• With tape mark every 13 and a half inches, lay the tape from the top of the first course to the line near the ridge.
• If a mark does not exactly fall on the top line, move the top of the tape, left or right until a mark intersects the line.
• Mark the deck at the marked spots on the tape.
• Repeat on the other side and snap chalk lines between the marks on the deck.
• Measure the distance from the third installed tile to the ridge.
• Make vertical chalk lines at this distance to ensure proper vertical alignment.
• A half bond pattern can be created by dry fitting two tiles so that the tile at the rake overhangs halfway.
• Mark the tile and cut it, creating a half tile and install the tiles.
• Repeat to complete the field tile installation.
• Optional battens may be installed.
• Begin by marking a line an inch and a half from the peak.
• Mark a line 15 and a half inches from the eve For the first Batton location
• With a tape marked every 13 and a half inches, lay the tape from the first batten line to the top line.
• If a mark does not fall exactly on the top line, move the top of the tape left or right, until the mark intersects the line.
• Mark the deck at the mark points on the tape.
• Repeat for the other side and snap chalk lines between to mark all batten locations.
• Batten should be no less than nominal one by two-inch treated lumber or other code approved products.
• Battens shall be no longer than forty-eight inches and separated with a minimum 1/2-inch gap for drainage.
• An alternative method allows the use of longer battens with shims of a minimum thickness of one-quarter inch decay-resistant material at each fastener to provide drainage.
• Other methods approved by local building officials are applicable.
• For high wind installations. Please refer to our printed installation manual.
