Easiest way to build a casting deck with a hatch - Boat DIY

In this video, we build a casting deck for my 1979 14’ aluminum Mirrorcraft boat.
It was important to keep it light enough to make it easily removable while being sturdy enough to fish from the bow.
We decided to add a hatch so we could store life jackets and other items below the deck.
In a boat this small, storage space is a big deal!
