"It is a thermal electrically cooled medium wave infra red night-sight. It can see through smoke, fog and operates in either total darkness all the way through to total sunlight or in fact you can see into or through camouflage in the sunshine."

"We've got some new warheads that we're working on - the thermobarics we've demonstrated the SMAW (Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon) system, we have different systems that use the thermobaric system as well but the marine corp is very interested right now in going forward with those kinds of materials because you get a very much more lethal effect inside of buildings and inside the cave complexes."

STORYLINE:

More than 70 defence contractors from around the world showed off their products at a military exhibition which opened on Sunday in the United States.

In an opening ceremony on Sunday, that included the advancing of the colours and a marine band playing 'God Bless America' the 9th annual Marine West Military Exposition quickly filled to capacity with curious marines.

The Military Expo has become a forum for defence contractors to display and promote their latest high tech equipment to the men and women that actually use it.

More that seventy defence contractors from around the world exhibited their products at Marine Camp Pendleton in California.

Raytheon was demonstrating the advantages of their latest heat sensing sight while other manufacturers exhibited the their cutting edge weapons and military equipment.

General response of Marines was positive, soldiers and officers alike welcomed the new developments in the tools of their trade.

United States is the largest producer and exporter of arms and weapons systems in the world.
