The Wolfgang rework is here and it is uhhhh…. Controversial. To the surprise of no-one.
This video will be a deep dive into this update’s impact on everyone’s beloved French/Russian/Some other Eastern European Country Strongman – is he still the rampaging monster he once was, or has he been delegated to simply being another character doomed to drown in the depths of the ever-growing character roster?

Firstly, the biggest change is that Wolfgang’s mighty forms are no longer tied to his hunger, instead being tied to the obligatory new Mighty Meter. I don’t think this change is terrible in and of itself, however in practise it tends to add a lot of tedium to the average Wolfgang playthrough. Mightiness is increased using either portable Dumbells, or the stationary Gym which can be equipped with any ‘heavy’ item, most of the time statues due to their high weight and ease of access. Working out will increase Wolfgang’s hunger drain, so all this change really does is pad out playtime by making you either stand still for a minute or so, or play this patronising little minigame.

As of his rework, Wolfgang also receives a number of other buffs while in mighty form, alongside double damage.
Wolfgang’s damage increase itself no longer scales with Wolfgang’s relevant meter, instead staying as a constant 2x damage as long as he is mighty. This is a nice QOL change, making it so Wolfgang doesn’t have to work out or waste food constantly just to retain a nice round 2 times damage. A similar thing happens regarding his maximum health and hunger – these are both permanently situated at 200, regardless of his form.
