Video 1 of 8: Sewing room — Sarah explains the basic process of plaster repair and then shares a bit of philosophy while working on the plaster in her sewing room.
Video 2 of 8: Sewing room (cont.) — Repairs on the sewing room continue. The magnitude of the work involved starts to become visible; historical discussions are interspersed with more work.
Video 3 of 8: Sewing room and Den: The sewing room is finally finished. Repairs start on Sarah's den. Difficulties with paint stripping; Gabriel repairs a door and discovers a fun detail about its lock.
Video 4 of 8: Den finished, Guest room started: Repairs, painting and re-stenciling finished on Sarah's den — a.k.a., the Owl room. Sarah explains why owls were chosen as a theme for this room as a tribute to Athena and the traditions that inspire neoclassical buildings.

Video 7 of 8: Master bedroom: After reading an article on wisteria bedrooms from around the time our house was new, Sarah decides to turn the walls and ceiling of our bedroom into an indoor garden. Our kitties enjoy this immensely.

This video (4 of 8) shows some of what went into restoring the plaster and paint in my den and our guest room. Our house is Neo-Classical in style based on the Parthenon, and in homage to this the theme of my den is the Athena room. I used a 7-layer system of different stencils to paint Athenian little owls (Athene noctua) on the walls, and separate stencils for a pine pattern. The pine stencils at the four corners of the ceiling I found in a ladies' magazine from the time the house was built: these stencils were originally intended as guides for embroidery on handkerchiefs. I stenciled a crown of pine in the middle of the ceiling as a reference to the prize in the Ancient Greek Corinthian games: whereas the prize in the Olympic games had been a crown of laurel, the Corinthian victors were awarded crowns of pine.
