Watchet is a harbour town, civil parish and electoral ward in the county of Somerset, England, with a population in 2011 of 3,785. It is situated 15 miles West of Bridgwater, 15 miles north-west of Taunton, and 9 miles East of Minehead.

Watchet is known to have supplied many seamen for the defence of the country during the Spanish Armada and the later Napoleonic War. However, probably one of the rarest naval encounters took place just off Watchet in about 1643 during the Civil War. A Royalist ship had been sent to Watchet to support the King's cause.
