Описание к видео The Cure - The Same Deep Water As You - Definitive Version - July 1989

This audio is from Wembley Arena, July 1989, Mixed with video from Mexico, April 2013. This song is from the Disintegration album.
If there was one song that you could point to that would define the CURE sound, for most fans, it would be "The Same Deep Water As You". The song is one long flowing story that is driven more so by the sound, than the lyrics. It's not what Robert says in this song, it's what he doesn't say and instead what he plays. The sound is distinctly CURE because Robert plays his Fender VI, six string bass, over Simon's droning, non-stop bass line. The song grabs you and slowly drags you under the deep water as Robert goes in and out of the these sliding scales. The lyrics are just as beautiful as the music, but vague enough to let the listener decide what it means to them. But, there is no denying that if you are taking this ride, you are going under. This is evident by Robert's solo at the end of the song starting around the 7:00 minute mark, as he takes the listener deeper, and deeper, into that Same Deep Water, until you finally give in and go under forever.
The song is from the Disintegration album, and the best versions of this song are from the 1989 Prayer Tour, and luckily Robert remixed this song in 2009 and released it as a track on Entreat Plus. The video is just something to look at, but you really should be closing your eyes when you listen. Because the 1989 version was just 0ver 10 minutes I had to edit additional video to sync with audio as best it could.
I know how much this song means to me, and also a lot of other fans. If you read this far it probably means a lot to you as well. I would love to hear from other fans what it means to them, so if you want leave a comment.
