What were the Silent Watchers of Cirith Ungol? | Lord of the Rings Lore | Middle-Earth

The tower of Cirith Ungol was protected by more than just Orcs, for there were some mysterious forces at work there, of a more twisted and unnatural kind. They were known as the Silent Watchers, and even though they seemed like simple statues, they were in fact possessed by an evil spirit that exerted its will against the enemies of Sauron. What powers did these statues have? What sort of spirit possessed them? Was it possible to overcome their Evil will? And were they build by the forces of Sauron or by the Men of Gondor? These questions and more as we delve into the mysteries of the Silent Watchers of Cirith Ungol!
