Join us for a sunset walk in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura. Our walk starts with magnificent clifftop views of Piedra Playa or Surfer's Beach. From here we stroll past the round defence tower, Torre del Tostón, built in 1700 to defend the coast against pirates. We then head past El Cotillo's new harbour and along the clifftop descending into the old harbour where there are many bars and restaurants offering a range of cuisine, from traditional Spanish, Italian, pizza and of course fresh fish and seafood. Live music is often played in one of the bars or restaurants along here. We soak up the laid back vibe as people are enjoying a sundowner and the fabulous sunset views.

El Cotillo is a coastal town in north-western Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. Once a small fishing village, although it has grown, still manages to retain much of its village feel and charm. It has a lovely laid back vibe, great beaches, and a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. It's also a fantastic place to watch beautiful sunsets.

To the south of El Cotillo are the beaches that attract many surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers. The first beach, Piedra Playa, south of the village is the largest and is over 1km long with beautiful soft sand. To the north are the lovely lagoon beaches which extend all the way to the lighthouse and beyond.

El Cotillo is surrounded by some of Europe's best beaches, including a range of bays with crystal clear waters and fine sand beaches, known as La Concha and Los Lagos (El Cotillo Lagoons). In 2016 it was reported that el Cotillo's beaches ranked among the ten best ones in Europe, as voted for by users of the online travel site TripAdvisor.

El Cotillo village has two harbours. The old harbour, used once a year during the fiesta and the new harbour which is used by the local fishermen and a dive school.

El Cotillo Market is held every Friday evening between 17:00 and 20:00 in the village square in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura. Here you will find a selection of traditional hand made jewellery, crafts and other delights. There is often live music too.

Torre del Tostón is the village's most prominent monument, overlooking surfers beach and the new harbour. It was built in 1700 to defend the coast against pirates who operated from France, England and North Africa (Barbary pirates). Torre del Tostón was recognised as an historic-artistic monument in 1949. Nowadays, famous local artists use Torre del Tostón as an exhibition room, and it's one of the island's main tourist attractions.
