Tonight’s upload features a classic early collaboration between Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders, recorded live on June 4, 1974 at the legendary Lion’s Share in San Anselmo, California.

This is a beautifully preserved soundboard recording sourced from the Betty Cantor master reels, capturing the rich jazz, R&B, and soul direction Jerry explored outside the Grateful Dead during this era. The band stretches out on long improvisations while keeping a deep groove throughout.

This performance also features a special guest vocal appearance by Alice Stuart on “New York City.”
