What is this MPox? MPox is nothing but monkey pox virus. So it is a type of disease which is mainly caused by zoonotical viral disease. That means it spreads from animals to humans. This monkey pox virus belongs to orthopox virus. This orthopox viruses also includes variella virus like cowpox viruses and varicella viruses like small pox and other viruses. So this disease mainly identified in the laboratory monkeys for the first time in the year 1998. Since then it is also found in different type of animals also. Not only in the monkeys and it also spreads by animals to humans . And for the first human case was recognized in the year 1970 in the Congo. Since then it had become endemic in the Central and western parts of Africa and from there it had spread to different parts of the countries and all over the regions of the world. The symptoms of mpox are similar to small pox. The disease can be divided into two phases the mainly the incubation period will be for one to two weeks and it can last even up to 3 to 4 weeks. So the first phase is prodromal phase where the patient have fever headaches are the main symptom and then body pains and severe myalgia and of nausea mild vomiting sensation and people also vomits and some people will be having mild dehydration and the back pain and the swollen lymph nodes also can be there. That we'll call it as lymphadenopathy. Chills and sweats also one of the major symptom and there is a problem called as malaise what it is the generalized weakness and tiredness. One cannot able to perform their activities. These all are the main symptoms in the prodromal phase. So the next phase is rash phase after developing of one to 3 days of fever the person will develop rashes the rashes can be of different types like macules papules and scabs also will be there. Person also will be having lot of irritation and then in all over the body the number of lesions maybe from single to numerous it can spread all over the body. So these are the main phases and the clinical assessment will be done by your physician. If any history of travel is present you have to inform your physician and then the symptoms development how it started and how it progressed you need to explain to your doctor clearly so that he can diagnose very easily and history of travel to the endemic areas example to any other part of the country it has to be given to the physician clearly. The laboratory testing will do PCR that is called as Polymerised Chain Reaction where here we will find out from the samples of the human whether the virus is present in the body or not.
