Lance Khan, a baseball player at University of St. Thomas who beat cancer twice, has died in a car accident in Houston. He was 21.

“Your infectious attitude and love for your teammates is something that can’t be taught,” the UST team said in a statement. “Your voice will echo in the dugout for eternity. We love you, Lance.”

Khan also played for Pakistan in the 2023 Lincoln Cup.

“He was one of the brightest talents we had,” Fakhar Shah, President of the Pakistan Baseball Federation, said. “His appearances on the international stage brought new energy and optimism to the sport in Pakistan."

Lance was born Richmond, Texas, and learned the game at Lamar Little League before starring at Travis High School.

He was the youngest of four sons of Michelle and Romail Khan.

Khan first began battling cancerous tumors in 2019 and was awarded UST’s Comeback Athlete of the Year.

“Life comes in different seasons,” Lance wrote in a recent social post. “Try to enjoy the journey, and small details along the way that make it beautiful.”
