There needs to be grooming/uniform standards. Haircuts need to be conservative in both style and color on both male and female and in a manner that enhances officer safety. I have no problem with facial hair as long as it is neatly trimmed. Stud earrings for women and none for men, one per ear. Rings only one per hand. Only one bracelet or watch on each arm (to many Johnny Depp wannabes) Tattoos as long as they aren't offensive. Shoes need to be black shineable leather (I have seen people wear slippers). Tobacco use in designated areas out of the general public view if possible and this goes for breaks as well. Appearance is everything and seeing a group of officers BSing even if on break appears bad. Uniforms/equipment need to be maintained.
