Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir was born on JUN 5, 2001 in Keflavík (Iceland). At age 14, she had her debut in the 2nd tier of the Icelandic league system, was on loan to champions Breiðablik. In 2020 she was signed by European top side VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, but sent directly on a loan to Kristianstads DFF in Sweden.
Which is why I met Sveindís for the first time shortly at Stockholm Olympic Stadium for a post game interview.
After having lived and played for 1,5 years in Germany, Sveindís and I spoke again about the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, her way from Keflavík to Wolfsburg, about losing games and recovering from that, about the UEFA Nations League, the TV-show "Breaking Bad" and knitting and about the enrichment of teh cultural heritage from Ghana and about wild horses in Iceland.
