On October 26, 2024, a high-speed pursuit unfolded in Jefferson County, Arkansas, involving a black 2023 Nissan Altima driven by Sixto Rojas. The incident began when Arkansas State Police observed the Altima following another vehicle too closely on a rainy day, risking road safety. The driver initially ignored Trooper Bernard Pettit’s signals to pull over, leading to a dramatic 4-mile chase on I-530 and U.S. 65B. Additional officers, including Sergeants Chase Melder and Rockey Rapert, joined the pursuit as it moved through residential streets at speeds reaching 50 mph. The chase ended when the driver attempted to evade capture by turning into a residence.

Upon arrest, officers found drugs and cash on the suspects. The passenger, Jacobo Perez, tried to flee but was apprehended and found with marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Rojas, the driver, was charged with felony fleeing and possession of cocaine after officers recovered 8 grams of the substance hidden in the vehicle. A total of $971 in cash and two cell phones were seized, and both suspects were taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center.
