This is unedited and so may be hard to follow but I thought I would show how I work things out in my head (which is usually just me talking to myself out loud) I did have to chase my tail a bit as at least 2 other people had attempted to fix it and had moved / re-adjusted everything and had even gone as far as changing the pump.

As it turns out, I only had to align the boot, catch and striker which was down to a siezed boot / roof hydraulic ram pulling the bar out of line. then re-adjust everything a fit a proper relay to have the pump work.
