The Bunduff River, On Its Journey through the Seasons

The Bunduff is a small, unassuming River in the North West of Ireland. A river which most of the population will pass without ever being aware of its existence. But never was it more important for us to highlight the sheer beauty, diversity and importance of these pure rivers. Our rivers are the country's arteries and treasures, They need to be protected at all costs for both the wildlife that depend on them and for our future generations.
We filmed on the river over a twelve month period to record and unravel some of the hidden secrets of life on the Bunduff River.
Ireland's Atlantic Salmon resource is rapidly declining from the historic adult runs of up to 2 million fish in the 1970's to less than 250 thousand now reaching our shores. Out of 144 salmon river systems only 27 or 19% are classified as being not at risk or at low risk. (According to Salmon Watch Ireland). ( Please click on Keane Films logo to see more of our videos)
