Описание к видео In the Studio | Intuitive Abstract Textile Art with Fabric Scraps (Part 2)

In this studio session, I continue building my series of intuitive abstract textile artworks from fabric scraps, expanding on the appliqué and boro stitching techniques introduced in Part 1. Here I demonstrate how to use a cut and slash chenille effect to add layered depth and texture, alongside a whipped running stitch for bold, raised stitch lines.

I also share my process for adding subtle fading effects with boro-style running stitches, and begin quilting a grid of circular stitches on the central piece in the series. This creates an unusual raised surface, with a tactile effect reminiscent of giant bubble wrap.

This video is perfect for slow stitchers, patchwork enthusiasts, and quilt makers looking to explore new textural techniques. Whether you are a beginner or looking to develop your hand stitching further, you’ll find inspiration in working instinctively with colour, shape, and stitch.

You’ll learn:
How to create a chenille-style cut and slash effect with fabric layers
Using whipped running stitch for stronger, bolder stitch lines
Adding boro-inspired stitches for texture and fading effects
Creating raised quilted surfaces with circular grid quilting

Watch Part 1 for the beginning of the process, and subscribe to follow the full playlist as I take you through the complete series of abstract stitched compositions.
