ArPePe in Valtellina - The vineyards

Isabella from ArPePe shows us the 13 hectares of vineyards, including Sassella, Grumello and Inferno which are located in the Valtellina Superiore DOCG area and the nebbiolo grape - referred to commonly here as Chiavannesca. This is also likely the region where nebbiolo originated according to DNA studies, not the commonly associated area of Piemonte. All work is done by hand, as are all plant protection processes. Working the vertical wall of vineyards can take up to 1,500 hours to cultivate just a single hectare (2.5 acres) of the vineyard!!
