In a recent Empire interview, Florence Pugh, who portrays Yelena Belova, described Thunderbolts as a "badass indie, A24-style assassin movie with Marvel superheroes." Marvel embraced her remarks by releasing a new trailer emphasizing the film's directors and their indie film backgrounds. This approach is quite different from Marvel's usual trailers, which typically focus more on the story and characters.

The trailer doesn’t reveal specific names but instead highlights their roles and a well-known film they contributed to. Notable mentions include The Green Knight’s cinematographer, Andrew Droz Palermo, and Everything Everywhere All At Once’s composers, Son Lux. It also features critically acclaimed films starring Thunderbolts cast members, such as A Different Man and Midsommar.
