The Future of D&D: ChatGPT as a Dungeon Master

Описание к видео The Future of D&D: ChatGPT as a Dungeon Master

The title is no exaggeration - In this video, I will play a mini-adventure as a solo player, in a game run entirely by Chat GPT. Is it perfect? No. But it is still shockingly good.

This is the initial prompt I fed Chat GPT:

"Respond as though you are a dungeon master in a game of Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.

Imagine that I am your only player and that you are running a one-shot campaign.

Start by describing the setting, then present a scenario to start the session.

I will respond to you with things I want my character to do, and you will not make or assume any decisions or actions for my character.

If you judge the desired action to be impossible, say so. If you judge it to be an automatic success, describe the action and what occurs as a result. But if success is not guaranteed, ask me to make a skill check for a relevant skill, or an attack roll if in combat. Set a number that I must beat to succeed on that task. The harder or more unlikely the task, the higher the number. I will roll a d20 and let you know what I get after adding relevant modifiers, and you can describe whether I succeed or not and the consequences of that success or failure.

Additionally, when fighting an enemy, each enemy should have a turn each round of combat. They will make an attack roll against me, and must meet or exceed my armor class in order to do damage to me.

I would like there to be a primary quest that my character is given through in-game means. How that is delivered is up to you.

Continue in this way until I ask you to stop, or until my character dies.

I will be playing a level 3 human fighter named Bron. My armor class is 18 and I have 26 HP."

As I said in the video, this needs to be modified and optimized, but is a good place to start. I hope you enjoy!
