Soldiers of the Home Guard march through London on their stand down parade. L/S of King George VI taking the salute. Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Mother), Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) and Princess Margaret are with him. Various shots as they march whilst the royal family watch. They reach Hyde Park Corner and go onto Piccadilly past the boarded up statue of Eros. A Scottish pipe band accompanies them. We hear the King's speech as they march, he says they have served their country with devotion.
