This piece, Op. 332, No. 10, was composed by Jacques-Louis Battmann (25 August 1818 – 7 July 1886) and is one of several funerary pieces he composed. Battmann was born in Masevaux, France and served as organist in Belfort, Vesoul, and Dijon, where he also died. He published a total of 456 works, mainly in the field of organ and piano music, as well as sacred and secular choral works. Many of his works are freely downloadable from IMSLP or the National Library of France.

Played on the sample set for the Cavaillé-Coll/Mutin organ situated in the Chapel du Bon Sauveur in Bégard in the Bretagne, France. The organ was built in 1899 by Charles Mutin, who was the successor to Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. It consists of three divisions: Pédale, Grand Orgue, and Récit expressif.
