PHOTOGRAPHY LIGHTING - Large Group Photography - TUTORIAL | How-To

In this video we're sharing one way of lighting a large group of people. There are many ways to do it, but my goal was to use one main source of light, have it come slightly from the side so as to not flatten their faces, and to create interesting shadows. The silk (diffusion) is to make the light soft and flattering, and the fill light is firing at a lower power than the main light so that it just softens the shadows, but doesn't create additional shadows that make a photo messy. The group we actually photographed was 16 people large, and comment below if you'd like to see the final shot! Or if you have any questions.

All equipment was rented, and the shoot took place in a hotel event space. Camera was a Canon R5 with a 50mm lens at F11.
