This is a quarter-plate daguerreotype of a braided spear plant (Sansevieria cylindrica) made for part of a series of botanicals inspired by the work of Karl Blossfeldt. This is also an example of how camera movements can be used effectively in close-up work. There is a notation/image in the video showing that I was able to utilize the Scheimpflug principle via front tilt to achieve a larger working aperture (f11) and reduce exposure time while achieving greater depth of filed at the wider aperture than would have been possible at a much smaller aperture (f32 +) without movements. This video shows the plate close up to show the amount of detail captured as well as the incredible micro-contrast available in the process.
