Russia’s Rostec has unveiled the fully import-substituted Ansat light multipurpose helicopter, marking a milestone in domestic aviation technology. The new VK-650V engine, developed by United Engine Corporation, replaces foreign components and enhances Russia’s technological sovereignty.

During its first flight, the crew tested the helicopter’s controllability, stability, and onboard systems, confirming the success of this modernization. The Ansat now features composite materials, advanced aerodynamics, and an autopilot system, making it capable of all-weather, day-and-night operations.

This upgrade is not just an engine swap—it is a complete redesign, elevating the helicopter to a new technological level. Officials at Rostec and the Ministry of Industry and Trade hailed the project as a step toward aviation independence, ensuring resilience against sanctions while boosting performance.

The Ansat competes with international models like the Bell 429, Airbus H135, and AgustaWestland AW109, offering versatility in civil, medical, and cargo missions. With certification and serial production ahead, the VK-650V-powered Ansat could soon become a global contender in the light helicopter class.
